In order to rally people, governments need enemies. They want us to be afraid, to hate, so we will rally behind them. And if they do not have a real enemy, they will invent one in order to mobilize us.

A sad, but true reality- perhaps this will happen one time too many and those that choose peace will displace this false reality once and for all- if it happens once, the force will be enought to change all the world.
So let it be now- as it will be, one day.
fantastic timing. now if only governments would work to lessen the awful effects of ignorance, poverty, and intolerance, we might be getting somewhere. THERE'S a global struggle I might actually be interested in joining.

That is where engaged Buddhism can be most benificial. The trouble is, there are way to many softies out there that like to give Presidents and leaders a free pass because they are "human". One flawed school of thought is seeing corrupt policies and actions as "OK" because heaven forbid one should be judgmental. Pure rubbish.

isaiah: I hope so too and will do my best to see this false reality crumble.
andi: Yeah, I thought it was good timing. You are right, poverty, intolerance and ignorance are the things are governments should be concerning themselves with. Especially helping the least of those amongst us.
amadeus: Yes, I believe very much in engaged Buddhism and I agree that we have to hold our leaders to a strict code of ethics.
