Keep Walking Forward

The Dharma Path is to keep walking forward. But the true Dharma has no going forward, no going backward, and no standing still.

not going back. not going forward and not standing still.

Maybe he means that one should not look back at the past and not try to keep guessing what will happen in the future...and that one should just stay still because you won't learn much of anything. But perhaps rather, one should just try and stay in the present moment.

Very interesting :)

Alwaysdare: Yeah, I think he means that one shouldn't look back and one shouldn't fret about the future. However, one shouldn't just stand still in the present either because then you are just kind of in a nihilistic state.

Once we have found the middle path we need to walk it if we are to stay in the now and flow of life so to speak. We have to be apart of everything and just standing still is kind of like observing the big picture but not being apart of it.

Standing still we have the illusion that we are some how "enlightened" and therefore do not have to do "anything." Such a view (in my mind) is just another attachment.

In reality there is no way that we can actually "stand or sit still" and some how avoid change. Staying still forever seems to me to be as a "numb animal" that has no sense of change or mindfulness. While sitting/standing still is good for the short term, it is not a long term answer.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

buddhist blogger: I got to agree with you :)

Actually I had a typo in my post, lol. It should have read as;

"and that one shouldn't just stay still because you won't learn much of anything. But perhaps rather, one should just try and stay in the present moment."

But yeah, I guess it would be kind of nihilistic to only stay in the present moment now that I think about it--after reading your comment :)

I'm always trying to understand these things so my opinion keeps changing, lol :)

Always: I understand...I am always learning too. I think that anyone who says they have learned it all is a fool. ;)

Even the Dalai Lama says that he's, "just a simple monk!"

Buddist is a stupid religion because the truth is there is only one God. The God of the universe who is the WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE and the only way to heaven. And anyway has any "miracles" happened to you....probably not. Praying to a idol is not ur way to heaven. people who believe in jesus christ will run and no grow weary walk and not grow faint and they will soar on wings like eagles....!!!! Amen and praise the God of heaven and earth the only God who will save u from yout sins

When someone starts off insulting me like you have, I don't feel very moved to embrace their way of thinking. Insulting people is not a good way to convert someone!!
