Your Comfort Music and/or Musician?

So I've lit some candles, pulled the front shades closed and am listening to my favorite "comfort music/musician" (and favorite music/musician of all time) the Great Prophet Bob Marley. His mystical music has some magic in it that lifts up my mood no matter what state it might be in at the time.

A rainbow of music with two lovely pots of gold o happiness at either end.

It's like a reassuring hug from a Great Bodhisattva--perhaps Avalokiteshvara him/herself and it calms my troubled mind and warms the heart. Marley is a Great Sage singing relaxing, peaceful, compassionate blessings in the form of mystical, magical, notes that descend upon my body like light, golden leaves lazily descending around me.
His musical Enlightenment shines forth as sun rays beaming through parting clouds to touch the precious hearts of untold numbers.

I honestly feel that Bob Marley will be remembered as one of the greatest musicians of all time. Right up there with Mozart and the like. I know that musical purests will disagree with that one but give Bob a chance to convince your heart. I am sure that you will see his Divine genius.

Shine on Robert Nesta Marley.

Shine on.

So what, or who is your favorite comfort music or musician?

~Peace to all beings~

good question james, i think i have not yet found any one particular one; it seems to depend on my mood what comforts me from one week to the next. a lot of the old George Harrison and John Lennon lyrics i find comforting from time to time...but right now i'm sitting in absoulte silence, except for the hum of the computer and the swish, pause, swish swish of the cars driving by on the wet road outside.

Paul (is it Paul or Pete, Paul i think) Horn...i like his renditions....

by the way, i stopped by to tell you that i red the answers (to your question and two others) on the Tricycle website, very good answers i thought!

how YOU doin'? - i'm "adequate"

cheers for now,
pj

p.s. hah hah, look how i spelt absolute...[as in absoulte silence" - l and u transposed]i find this funny considering the Healing Workshop i went to on Saturday...a lot of the work was to do with the soul

When an individual moves you spiritualy, emotionaly and physically then the there is something that is in them that makes your divinity come to the front of all other things. When what they offer moves your soul then you have entered into rapture and your world is a more peaceful place to be.
I agree with you about Bob Marley. He truly was (is) a genius. The person who moves me like this has been Harry Chapin.

Great question

Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "High Hopes," etc.

-also-

Sting... anything, but particularly "Why Should I Cry for You," or "Ghost Story"

Yeah depending on my mood I have certain favorites too. Silence is just as golden.

Very good answers on the Tricycle website. They were very reassuring for me.

I'm doing great thanks!! Having a really good patch of stability. I don't take it for granted.

No worries on the spelling. That's pretty cool that you were thinking about the "soul" and wrote that into absolute...hehe...

Dave:

Harry Chapin...I haven't listened to him before. I think I'll have a listen. Thanks for the recommendation. :) Yes, music is such a great vehicle for the Divine.

Trev:

I love Pink Floyd. Sting is great too. I like pretty much all of his stuff...especially, "Fragile."

Silence IS golden, I agree... Dave Matthews is up there for me. His music has the effect of making me silent and acutely concious of thought and breath and movement... soul stirring.
Agree with Dave's post, he moves my soul and that has sweet effect on my world.
Good post, James!

Good day James!
I have just come back from meditation class and login into your website to visit your thoughts and share some of mine with you… to my surprise, to find my favorite musician being feature in this post, Bob Marley!!!
Yes, also my favorite choice in my cd player for some years now and I agree with you, definitely: “There's a natural mystic flow thru' the air, if you listen carefully now you will hear.”
I always seen him as a prophet too, his words, his power, his magic, all this to change the mood in any room at any time. It’s been my comfort too…
Unlike him, It’s amazing how many prophets who just did good in their life and they were still hated and wished unwell…
Today the meditation class was about Love & Kindness. I have realized that even if we love and try to be kind to everyone there is still people who wish you bad, unfortunately.
It is the fact that carrying a positive loving aura around you can attract the opposite into you, the people who will envy and feel satisfied if you get hurt.
Look at the prophets who were hanged or tortured and they only meant good… look at the farytales of cinderella and snowwhite... From fantasy to reality it is very hard to keep loving and being kind without getting hurt, but I will keep trying…

Oh yeah DMB is high on my list too. I often get chills from listening to his music.

Angela:

"Natural Mysic" is one of my favorite Bob songs. He certainly is a "natural Mystic."

Being loving and being attacked reminds me of a poem by Mother Theresa. She said something along the lines of, "People will attack you for your kindess. Be kind anyway."

Good on you for keeping on trying. Keep lifting that light as high as you can for there will be more people who will benefit from it then not.

Trinity Star:

I like violin music as well but it depends on the song.

Tim:

You're one cool being yourself!! I like all of your choices. I have the same eclectic choice in tunes. I've been listening to a lot of Credence Clearwater Revival lately as well. And you can never go wrong with the Floyd.
